BFTS Day 11
Well today Rob finally got his chance to record his bass. I sat with him and Chris though most of the recording. It went well on my
opinion. A couple changes were made in pretty much each song, Rob and Chris taking their time to get every riff and rhythm perfectly in place with either the kick or the guitars.
After Rob was through dominating on the bass Bryan and I proceeded to complete the guitars for the intro. This was the last bit of guitaring I had to do for the EP and it was the easiest, a couple of layers later it was all over for me. Intro was done and the evening was on its way, we finished up with a bit of gang vocals and then got our drink on! We decided to go big 2nite and headed to Melville Cool Runnings.
When 12 struck it was Kamils birthday and he definitely proved to us his is a worthy member of the suits! It was out of control, just the way we like it, and loads of fun.
Cheers,
Brent aka. Heiny
BFTS Day 06
So this is my first blog and for the brief week I’ve been here I’ve watched Scott and Brent fight over the PS2 loads of times, heard about a thousand south park quotes and have been introduced to non-stop drinking. Some amazing music has been recorded in the process. It’s been great. Expect some epic tracks in the upcoming EP.
Last night we went to a place called Tempos here in Joburg and it kicks ass… nothing in Cape Town can even compare. It’s more than 5 times the size of Mercury, has 2 pools and a fake beach area. Scott wasn’t able to join us because of financial difficulties and we came home to discover him asleep with the laptop in front of him and many soggy tissues on the floor…
So today Mike and Chris finished up editing all the drums tracks so we got to chill at home and mess around. We worked on some of the keyboard and got some sweet sounds for the intro of the album. And that’s about all that was accomplished today. Anyways, don’t do drugs and bath at least once a week.
Cheers,
Kamil
One week left
Today we had our first meeting with Kamil and discussed the last of what is needed for JHB. All our flights including Kamil’s are now booked and it’s just practicing the songs from now on until take off.
Truthcore Records hooked us up with a pimping pad near the studio fully furnished complete with bedding, microwave, stove, fridge, TV, Dvd, showers, bathroom, lounge, bedroom, and a super awesome gay zen garden. So the PS2 is coming up in the back of the guitar amps;)
Scott also click tracked the keyboard straight into Reason (the recording program) for Kamil to jam to in the next week.
At the end of the meeting Kamil asked us if we wanted to hear some beats and sounds he’d been working on that he thought would sound sick on the EP. We thought why not so he popped them on all modest and all… you know that feeling when you outta cash at the end of an awesome night out and give the bar lady a R20 for a R8 dumpie and she gives you R42 back..
We say no more..
ManINsuiT have a new keyboard player!
It’s confirmed ManINsuiT have a new Keyboard player!
His name is Kamil Govender and he hasn’t played in a million bands before and doesn’t have an emo cut so he’s perfect… oh yeah, he rips the keys and guitar too. He learnt the whole Battle for the Sky intro on guitar perfect in 10 minutes.
Kamil is studying sound engineering and listens to catchy Rock influenced music and is moving away from the heavier stuff he used to listen to sorta like another 4 guys you might know..
After only meeting him twice, we were already talking absolute bollocks about beer, birds and bar-chords.
Hopefully he can come up to JHB to play the two shows and record on the album, but it’s very short notice. Check back tomorrow to see what’s happening.
